Data Analysis and Visualisation

Study program: F3 Computer Science

Degree: Master

Type of module: lectures, practical work

Lecturer: Professor, Ph.D. Dmytro Sytnikov

Language: English

Credit Points: 5 ECTS

Description:
Discipline of basic professional training (mandatory). In computer systems methods of Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery are broadly used. The course is based on mathematical principles of working with vagueness and uncertainty in data. The discipline includes studying  methods developed by the lecturer. In the framework of the discipline methods for working with discrete and continuous data are considered as well as popular algorithms for knowledge discovery in databases. Generating association rules, extracting logic rules from databases, advanced technologies related to decision trees, some special methods for classification and forecasting (like MARS) are considered. Modern data visualization techniques are studied.
