The discipline is aimed at considering a wide range of issues, starting with the development of databases in the MySQL DBMS and ending with the use of databases with Java. The issues of constructing queries for creating, modifying and retrieving data, modifying tables, creating and using stored objects, working with the JDBC application interface, issues of administering and optimizing the database are considered. Theoretical information is accompanied by examples of implementation in the MySQL DBMS. To master the discipline, you must have basic knowledge of the organization of relational databases (tables, indexes, relationships, table normalization).

Дисципліна спрямована на розгляд широкого кола питань, починаючи з розробка баз даних в СУБД MySQL та закінчуючи застосуванням баз даних з Java. Крім того, розглянуто питання побудови запитів на створення, модифікацію та вибірку даних, модифікацію таблиць, створення та застосування збережених об’єктів, робота з прикладним інтерфейсом JDBC, питання адміністрування та оптимізації БД. Теоретичні відомості супроводжуються прикладами реалізації в СУБД MySQL. Для освоєння дисципліни необхідно мати початкові знання щодо організації реляційних БД (таблиці, індекси, зв’язки, нормалізація таблиць).
